bubble tea at sandra ave!

I tried to put together a little bubble tea station, there are cups, lids, straws, powders, a whisk and scoop (or you can use spoons of course) next to the kitchen sink. there is rainbow jelly and pearl in brown sugar syrup in the fridge and a big bag of ice in the second drawer of the freezer.

if having bubble tea at home, the cups can be reused a couple times (they’re not great, I think i got 2 uses out of one before it broke). If taking to-go, you can chuck out the cup. the enormous plastic straws are very durable, can be washed and reused, but there are paper straws for on-the go.

below are my suggested preps - but mix and tase as you go - start with less ice/water and dilute until it tastes good to you.

enjoy!

peach

  • If adding pearl, soften pearl for a few seconds (about 10 secs) in the microwave

  • Whisk packet into about a quarter of a bubble-tea cup of water

  • Top up with ice

  • add jelly brown and/or sugar syrup (from the pearl) to taste

  • Tastes nice at about half of a bubble tea cup - tastes more diluted the more liquid you add

coconut

  • whisk in 2 scoops of coconut bubble-tea powder into about a third of a cup of boiling water

  • add pearl (if desired) and zap for 10 secs to soften

  • top up with ice

  • add jelly brown and/or sugar syrup (from the pearl) to taste

  • tastes nice at about half of a bubble tea cup - tastes more diluted the more liquid you add

‘taro’

  • the Nestum stuff is not what I was expecting… I should have researched! It’s a cereal drink so is a bit grainy to taste… the flavour is… okay.

  • whisk a sachet into about a third of a bubble tea- cup of boiling water

  • add pearl (if desired) and zap for 10 secs to soften

  • top up with ice

  • add jelly brown and/or sugar syrup (from the pearl) to taste

  • I like it more diluted to help with the texture, extra brown sugar syrup will bump up the flavour - aim for 3/4 to a full cup.
